These are some of the charities I have supported over the years. Please have a look & consider contributing. Even the smallest donation will go directly to the cause and not get bogged down spent on admin/advertising costs.

In 2007, I had the amazing opportunity to visit the school I've been sponsoring for many years in the Himalayas. I took my (then) 14 yr old daughter on what was an incredible journey of discovery. I had been to Nepal before, but this was a once in a lifetime trip with a very deep & personal connection.  After that, I held many events to heighten awareness and to raise funds for those most in need. One particular event featured Academy Award winning actor Jeremy Irons as the honoured guest speaker who recounted his time in Nepal. A memorable evening for all those involved!
Below are some charities I hope you will turn your attention to. All are incredibly deserving!

NOH is another charity that pulls at the heart strings. Time spent here will forever stay with me and my teenage daughter. Not only do they administer love and care to orphaned and abandoned children, but they also rescue, home & educate girls who have been sold into servitude from a young age.

Nepal Orphans Home attends to the welfare of children in Nepal who are orphaned, abandoned, or not supported by their parents. Papa’s House provides for the children’s basic needs of food, shelter, and clothing, as well as schooling and health care, and administers to their emotional needs with love and compassion. Papa’s House allows children to grow up in a nurturing environment. The mission of Nepal Orphans Home is not just to rescue children from abject poverty, but to enable the children to develop and realize their potentials.

A community based organisation founded in 2008 by Christopher Chapema in Malawi and Doug Buckingham in the UK. The goal of the organisation is to help the people of Nkhata Bay to a better quality of life, and specifically to help the very young, so that they can get a better (or some) education, and the elderly so that they can have some basic comforts in their final years. Please visit the website to get involved and see what a wonderful difference they are making in Africa!

Having visited the Shree Mangal Dvip school in Kathmandu, I am in awe of their work and dedication. Particularily to preserving the Tibetan culture, language and Tibetan Buddhist traditions.

SMD Schools offer education, housing, medical and dental care to hundreds of mountain kids. Most of the children are from the north of Nepal, but culturally and linguistically they are Tibetan, and their thinking is Buddhist. For centuries, the teachings of the Buddha have flourished without interruption in the Himalayas of Nepal.

Nepal is the poorest, hungriest country in Asia. It has the lowest literacy rates in Asia, and one of the highest child mortality rates in the world. There is little infrastructure, and none in remote mountain villages where people live an ancient lifestyle without roads, electricity, telephones, sanitation, running water, hospitals or schools. Geographically isolated and neglected by Kathmandu, Himalayan people are an ethnic and religious minority in a country where until recently +80% were excluded from citizenship on the basis of the Hindu caste system.
